Orca communication is highly complex, relying on sounds like clicks, whistles and pulsed calls to navigate, hunt, and maintain social bonds. Each family pod has its own unique, learned 'dialect'. They also use physical actions, such as tail slaps and breaches to create sound and communicate intentions. Their communication is crucial for survival, social cohesion, and the transmission of knowledge to offspring.
This piece evokes Yin and yang to represent the complementary, interconnected opposites in the natural world, such as dark and light, or passive and active. They are not opposing forces that are mutually exclusive, but rather two parts of a whole that are interdependent and give rise to each other, like day and night. Their dynamic balance is essential for harmony and health in everything from nature to the human body.
10% of proceeds from this piece will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund to support their conservation work.
